It’s been a long time since Laggy last made an appearance, giving advice on what to run on an older computer, with an outdated operating system. But he’s come out of retirement to help all those with old XP systems, that might be unsure what newer software will run well on them.
Yeah, sure, you could keep running the same old stuff, but maybe you want some newer software, too? And what about when you are forced to look for something else, for security reasons, when the old software is just too risky to keep on using, or just won’t run any more?
Most of what we will be presenting will be freeware, because let’s face it, we know that if you could afford to dole out a ton of cash on software, you’d probably be better off saving it up to buy a new computer, instead.
Nobody will judge you here. We know how it is. We have a few old computers, ourselves, that for whatever reason, can’t be upgraded to the latest and greatest version of Windows. And we are not ready to put them out to pasture, just yet.
Our plans are to research many software categories and use some of those old computers to test what’s out there, so you won’t have to.
If it runs and runs well, without any problems or security issues, we’ll let you know.
We’ll also let you know what you can do to extend the life of some of your existing software, when possible, with various tweaks, settings changes, and patches.
And if there’s ever something you would like to see tested, please feel free to let us know.
