While she won&#8217;t eat the chops, she will devour the rice.<\/p>\n<h2>Ingredients:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>1\/2 cup brown rice<\/li>\n<li>2\/3 cup parboiled rice<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup butter or margarine<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup chopped onion<\/li>\n<li>1 can (4 oz) sliced mushrooms, drained<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp dried thyme leaves, divided<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp rubbed sage<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp salt<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 tsp ground black pepper<\/li>\n<li>4 to 6 boneless pork chops, cut 3\/4 to 1 inch thick (don&#8217;t use regular thin chops!)<\/li>\n<li>1 can (10.5 oz) beef consomm\u00e9 (or dissolve a beef bouillon cube in 10.5 oz hot water)<\/li>\n<li>1 TBS soy sauce<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp paprika<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 tsp ground nutmeg<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Directions:<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Spray slow cooker pot with non-stick cooking spray<\/li>\n<li>Combine white rice, brown rice, and butter in a skillet.<\/li>\n<li>Saut\u00e9 over medium-high heat, stirring constantly, until rice is golden brown.<\/li>\n<li>Remove from heat and stir in onion, mushrooms, 1\/2 tsp thyme, sage, salt, and pepper.<\/li>\n<li>Pour rice mixture into slow cooker.<\/li>\n<li>Arrange chops over rice mixture.<\/li>\n<li>Combine broth and soy sauce.<\/li>\n<li>Pour over chops.<\/li>\n<li>Combine remaining thyme, paprika, and nutmeg.<\/li>\n<li>Sprinkle over chops.<\/li>\n<li>Cover and cook on low for 7 to 9 hours (or high for 4 to 5 hours)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is one of the few foods that I still drag out my old slow cooker to make.
