Heart Like a Wheel is a biographical drama film directed by Jonathan Kaplan. The movie is based on the life of Shirley Muldowney, a pioneering female drag racer, and follows Shirley (played by Bonnie Bedelia) from her early days as a waitress in Schenectady, New York, to becoming a top-fuel drag racer in a male-dominated sport. Despite numerous challenges, including skepticism from her husband Jack Muldowney (played by Beau Bridges) and the racing community, Shirley’s determination and talent help her break barriers and achieve success.
