Leap of Faith is a comedy-drama film directed by Richard Pearce. The movie stars Steve Martin as Jonas Nightengale, a fraudulent Christian faith healer who travels with his team, including his manager Jane Larson (Debra Winger), to small towns to conduct revival meetings and swindle money from the locals. When their bus breaks down in the drought-stricken town of Rustwater, Kansas, Jonas decides to hold a series of revival meetings to raise money for repairs.
As Jonas performs his usual tricks to convince the townspeople of his divine powers, he encounters resistance from the local sheriff, Will Braverman (Liam Neeson), who is determined to expose him as a fraud. The plot thickens when a young boy named Boyd (Lukas Haas), who walks with crutches due to a psychosomatic condition, believes that Jonas can heal him. The film explores themes of faith, deception, and redemption, with a mix of humor and drama.
